Tina's Office

Jan. 2017 Blog Post:

In December I shared some of my upbringing with you and how I discovered my niche for editing. Now we will chat about the transition stage.

The Feeling: Leaving my job of 15 years was kind of scary. I was going from a crazy, fast paced, 10 hours a day plus ½ day on Saturday job to my home office, in my basement, by myself. I really did not know what to expect or how it was going to affect me. Part of me was afraid that I might go into depression mode or start bouncing off the walls. But, that first day was perfect. I transitioned into my new world without any problem. I walked down my stairs, looked at my new office all set up waiting for me and this HUGE smile appeared on my face and my heart even skipped a beat. Even now, a year later that happens every day. This is where I am meant to be and what I am meant to be doing.

My First Year: Before leaving my job at the concrete company, I was able to acquire 5 clients, all by word of mouth. That made me excited, I was sure that I was going to be successful in my first year. I soon discovered that just because I have 5 clients, does not mean they are ready for me. That brought me to more research and webinars. I went through “The Stages”: What am I thinking? Can I really do this? Where are my clients? How am I going to find more clients?”
